I've decided to abandon this blog in favor of a newer, more experimental hypertext form of writing. Come over and see the new place.

Priest Off!

Since I am apparently obsessed with bashing the Catholic Church, I can't resist posting this very funny video:

From Crackle: Priest Off!

h/t to Evolving Thoughts, where I am having yet another unsatisfactory argument, this time taking a relatively pro-religion position. Scienceblogs seems quite dominated by simpleminded atheism, even among philosophers who ought to be capable of a little more nuance.

I must be very stupid. I couldn't figure out how to embed that video...

Don't feel bad, I'm a trained media scientist.

You need to click around on the video, maybe on the borders, and it pops up a long and complex embed sequence.

I admit, it is teh funnay.

So, when's your next embed about New York's refusal to fire abusive public-school teachers? I mean, it's such epic lulz when the Church is caught at it, so surely it should be EVEN FUNNIER if the state's purveyors of education are doing it, and protected.

Accountability is for those goofy spaghetti-monster believers, I guess...

If you go search through the comments on earlier posts (like this one you'll see this issue beaten to death. Basically (a) the studies that purport to show that there is a higher incidence of sexual abuse in public school are mostly crap, and (b) I don't care, I have no particular obligation to be even-handed in what I find amusing. Anyway, the article you linked is about teachers who have been yanked from the classroom but are still collecting pay. Perhaps they should be fired altogether, but at least they have been removed from contact with children, which is more than the Catholic Church did when dealing with priestly abuse.
